This test has been taken from the ENG sample safety manual, which is a generic derivative of the old AFLAC Broadcast Division safety manual. (They sold their interest in broadcasting a few years back after giving the manual out with free and unrestricted use.)

ENG VAN EXAMINATION
The following is an ENG van "practical" exam which is the second testing phase of the certification process. For this test, the student is required to actually setup a live shot at a remote location (selected by the examiner). The examiner closely observes the student as he/she performs each step of the assignment -- van prep, van inspections, driving the van, and remote live setup procedures.
The examiner is specifically observant of the safety aspects of the student's actions during the test. At our station, we have zero tolerance for safety-related errors during the van examination. Once the candidate makes a safety mistake during this exam, the test is over!
If the student fails this van test, he/she must review the written materials and schedule an additional training session with the instructor before a re-test is approved.
